Sailing in the "Nioulargue"-regatta in St. Tropez or one of the other "Classic Events". It has become possible, because you (and your friends) can sail Sylphe yourself in these world famous events.

As you know by now, Sylphe offers different kind of charters, from a private, intimate family charter in some exotic part of the Mediterranean waters, to a corporate day charter in the South of France. It is all possible.

AND STILL THERE IS MORE: Taking part in the classic vintage regattas in the South of France and Italy. Every year, organized by the CIM, some special weeks of racing with these kind of classic boats are organized. The week in St. Tropez, the former La Nioulargue, is probably the best known. AND YOU CAN TAKE PART AS WELL. Sylphe is not participating every year, so make your choice known well before hand.

The VELA D'EPOCA D'IMPERIA regatta in North Italy, the “REGATES ROYALES” in Cannes and “LES VOILES DE ST. TROPEZ” (former Nioulargue) are the events where SYLPHE will show off her performance against the other classics. At each of these events some 80 - 120 of the most beautiful boats in the world gather and race.

A unique opportunity to finally feel what it is like to race a classic. To feel her heel over, to round a buoy, together with a competitor at 5 meters distance (or sometimes less) and to go for the start gun together with 30 others in your class, it is a special feeling. During the course of the one-week long event a number of races are scheduled, together with time and possibility for leisure events, both on and off the water.

BUT once again, you will actively have to sail "SYLPHE" yourself. Your crew of max 10 persons will do all the sailing, the tactics, the partying, as "SYLPHE" does not supply the crew, only the skipper. So, get your friends together for taking part in one of these very special events.

NOTE: We offer a special 25% discount for rounding up a complete female crew, no joke.......... It is always the "guys" that do these events........time for a change.

Each of the classic-weeks offers a different atmosphere:

Imperia offers by far the best hospitality and the most intimate atmosphere. The Italians in Imperia understand what it means to host this prestigious fleet of classic boats and does everything in its power to make this (probably) the best week of the season. The complimentary basket with flowers, croissants, and a bottle of wine, brought to the boat every morning by two beautiful girls is just an indicator for the atmosphere of this very, very special week. MY favorite.

Cannes offers probably the most serious racing of the whole circuit. The 80 classics, together with the numerous metric classes, offer a week of dedicated sailing, on the edge of the what-is-possible. In 2002 we came in 7th overall after 5 days of exhilarating races, impeccably organized by the committee.

And St. Tropez……well it is in a class of its own. The sailing is nice, but more leisurely, but than again the week of St. Tropez offers……ST. TROPEZ. And the setting in the old port is simply stunning and especially the atmosphere on land and the shore-activities make St. Tropez a special event. To see and to be seen is the motto for St. Tropez.
